Callaway Rogue vs Mavrik Driver Comparisons from Tell Me More Golf Coaches

As the head golf instructor at Tell Me More Golf, and in this article, I will compare two of Callaway’s most popular drivers: the Callaway Rogue ST Max and the Callaway Mavrik.

The Mavrik driver is a generation older, but because of its more affordable price and slightly different technology, some golfers may prefer it.

There are different models of both of these driver line-ups, but to keep things simple, we’ve compared the Rogue ST Max and the standard Mavrik driver. We chose these because they are the most popular.

Callaway Rogue vs Mavrik Driver Compared

The Callaway Rogue and Mavrik drivers have many similarities, but there are two things that immediately stand out when you compare them: the design and face technology.

Design

Both of these drivers feature 460cc heads, which most drivers today do.

However, the Mavrik has a noticeably more streamlined design than the Rogue.

This makes the Rogue look slightly larger at address, which some may like and some may not

Face Technology

As the drivers are different line-ups, they utilize different face technologies. The Rogue driver uses Callaway’s new AI-designed Speed Tuned face, while the Mavrik uses Flash Face SS20 architecture. When simplified, the technology on the Rogue makes it slightly more forgiving

Callaway Rogue Driver Pros and Cons

Now, we’ll go over the pros and cons of the Callaway Rogue ST Max driver.

We’ll cover its price, forgiveness, spin, launch, and distance.

We’ve chosen these criteria as we believe them to be the most important when picking out a new driver.

Callaway Rogue Driver’s Price

The Callaway Rogue ST MAX driver costs more than the Mavrik, as it’s a newer model. The exact price will depend on availability, but you can usually pick up a brand-new Rogue driver for around $400

Callaway Rogue Driver’s Forgiveness

The Callaway Rogue ST Max is an extremely forgiving driver that most golfers can play well with. The High MOI enables this, but also makes it harder to shape shots. The Rogue ST Max is noticeably more forgiving than the Mavrik.

Callaway Rogue Driver’s Spin

If you’re looking for a mid-spin driver, the Callaway Rogue ST MAX is a great option. The technology used is meant to deliver a high enough spin rate to make it forgiving, but also low enough to make it long-hitting. The spin rate you will experience depends on your swing, but the Rogue has slightly higher spin than the Mavrik.

Callaway Rogue Driver’s Launch

The Callaway Rogue ST MAX is a high-launching driver. Most forgiving drivers are that today, as it makes most amateur golfers hit the golf ball longer and straighter. You will most likely experience a slightly higher launch with the Rogue than with the Mavrik.

Callaway Rogue Driver’s Distance

The Callaway Rogue ST MAX is meant to be a long-hitting driver for mid and high handicaps. This means that you will hit the ball a long way if you have a slower swing speed. However, because the Mavrik has lower spin and launch, it will be longer-hitting for better golfers.

Mavrik Driver Pros and Cons

Here, we’ll go over the pros and cons of the Mavrik driver, which performs slightly differently than the Rogue. Just like earlier, we’ll cover the price, forgiveness, spin, launch, and distance.

Mavrik Driver’s Price

The Callaway Mavrik driver is more affordable than the Rogue.

This is because it’s an older model with less new technology. Usually, a brand-new Mavrik driver costs around $300, but as it’s not that new anymore, you might be able to pick it up for cheaper on sale.

Mavrik Driver’s Forgiveness

The Callaway Mavrik driver is a very forgiving driver, but because it has a lower MOI among other things, it’s less forgiving than the Rogue ST Max. This means that the Rogue is a better option if you’re seeking maximum forgiveness

Mavrik Driver’s Spin

The standard Mavrik driver is also a relatively mid-spin model, but the spin rates are lower than on the Rogue ST Max. So if you have a higher swing speed and want to hit the ball further, the Mavrik is perhaps the better choice.

Mavrik Driver’s Launch

The Callaway Mavrik has a lower launch than the Rogue ST Max, but it’s still pretty high. Generally speaking, most golfers will be able to hit a golf ball decently with the Mavrik, but if you struggle with getting the ball up in the air, the Rogue is a better choice.

Mavrik Driver’s Distance

The distance you will get from any driver depends on many factors, but for mid and low handicaps, the Mavrik driver might be longer than the Rogue primarily because of the lower spin. However, high handicappers will very likely experience the opposite effect

Which Driver Should You Get?

It’s very hard for us to say which driver you should get, as there are many things that impact the decision. The Mavrik’s lower price is a strong selling point, and there are also other models than the standard one mentioned in this article.

The Rogue ST Max is undoubtedly more forgiving, but it’s also more pricey. At the end of the day, the decision is entirely up to you to make, and both of these drivers are excellent options.

Conclusion:

In this article, we’ve compared the Callaway Mavrik with the Callaway Rogue ST Max. These are two excellent drivers with many similarities, but the technologies and specs make them slightly different. Hopefully, you now have a better idea of which suits you the best

The Mavrik driver is significantly cheaper, has a slimmer appearance, and will be longer-hitting for higher swing speeds. The Rogue ST Max costs a bit more, has a larger appearance, and it’s very forgiving across the entire face.

So if you’re a golfer looking for maximum forgiveness, the new technology on the Rogue ST Max probably makes it a better choice. On the other hand, if you’re more price sensitive or want greater distance, the Mavrik could be the one for you.
