7 Hybrid Distance — How Far Should You Hit a 7 Hybrid?

7 Hybrid Distance Chart Advice and Tips from Golf Instructors and Coaches at Tell Me More Golf

I’m the head golf instructor at Tell Me More Golf, and in this article, I will cover how far different types of golfers, on average, hit their 7 hybrid. I will also go over its specs, how to hit it well, and the most common questions about it.

How Far Does the Average Person Hit a 7 Hybrid?

When it comes to men, the average golfer hits a 7 hybrid around 150 yards on average. Women tend to hit it slightly shorter at an average of 130 yards. The distance differences between skills aren’t as large with a 7 hybrid as with a driver for example, but they’re still significant.

7 Hybrid Average Club Head Speed

The average clubhead speed for regular golfers hitting a 7 hybrid is a bit under 80 mph. Swing speeds differ vastly between golfers though, and many low handicaps swing it much slower, and vice versa.

Standard 7 Hybrid Length

The standard 7 hybrid length is approximately 37.5 inches.

Tips on Hitting a 7 Hybrid for Distance

When it comes to hitting your 7 hybrid the longest way possible and playing your best golf, you need to focus on having a good strike on the clubface’s sweet spot while also hitting down on the golf ball. Other than that, you can increase your distance by increasing your swing speed.

When Should I Use a 7 Hybrid?

On the golf course, you’d normally use a 7 hybrid for approach shots or tee shots on par 3s.

The relatively high loft combined with a good spin rate enables the golf ball to land softly on the green and stop, meaning that you’ll have better scoring opportunities. You can also use a 7 hybrid for tricky lies where you don’t want to chunk it and for bump-and-run chipping.

7 Hybrid Loft Degrees

The standard loft of a 7 hybrid is around 34 degrees. Lofts do vary between manufacturers though, so expect some 7 hybrids to have a few more or fewer degrees of loft. 34 degrees is undoubtedly very high for a hybrid, which is why they’re uncommon.

TellMeMoreGolf.com – Frequently Asked Questions

What is a 7 hybrid equivalent to?

A 7 hybrid typically has a loft of 34 degrees, which makes it equivalent to a standard 7 iron. These clubs will go similar distances, but depending on your swing and swing speed, one might go farther than the other.

What is a 7 hybrid used for?

You can use a 7 hybrid for many things, but it’s most commonly used for approach shots into greens or tee shots on par 3s. The high launch and spin make it great for approach shots since the ball lands softly and often stays in place.

How do you hit a 7 hybrid?

To hit a 7 hybrid well, you should put the golf ball slightly forward in your stance and hit down on it. Hitting down on the ball allows the loft to do its job, giving you the best results. However, you should avoid getting too steep in the downswing, as that will cause inconsistency.

What company makes a 7 hybrid golf club?

7 hybrids are definitely something out of the ordinary, and it’s quite challenging to find ones for sale. Thomas Golf is one golf gear manufacturer that makes stock 7 hybrids.

It’s also sometimes possible to adjust the loft of a 6 hybrid, which is much easier to find, to almost the same loft as a 7 hybrid.

What club would a 7 hybrid replace?

A 7 hybrid would typically replace a 7 iron. This is because the lofts and distances produced are very similar.

When it comes to a hybrid vs mid irons or long irons, the hybrid is generally more forgiving and easier to hit, making it a good replacement for golfers struggling with striking their irons well.

Should I use a 7 wood or 3-hybrid?

Whether you should use a 7 wood or a 3 hybrid is a lot up to personal preference, since the lofts and yardages are relatively similar depending on the spec

Generally speaking, fairway woods produce a slightly lower launch and are often more challenging to hit than hybrids. In many cases, this makes the hybrid better for high handicappers and beginners.

Conclusion:

The 7 hybrid can be a great club for amateur golfers struggling with hitting their mid irons well. The average male golfer hits his 7 hybrid around 150 yards, and females hit it around 130 yards.
