These balls have their similarities, such as both being low-compression golf balls with ratings of about 65, but they also have their differences in distance, spin, and feel.

Titleist Tour Soft vs Titleist TruFeel Compared

When we first looked at these balls, there were three areas of difference that immediately stood out: the design, spin, and price. 

Design

Both the Tour Soft and TruFeel are two-piece golf balls. This isn’t that much, but the lack of layers is partially made up by having very advanced cores. The Tour Soft has a 346 quadrilateral dipyramid dimple design, while the TruFeel has 376 tetrahedral dimples.

Which dimple pattern is better is up to personal preference. 

The TruFeel features Titleist’s TruFlex cover, while the Tour Soft has an Ionomer cover. Generally speaking, the Urethane cover found on premium golf balls like the Titleist Pro V1 is better, but the TruFlex still offers great feel. 

Spin

The Titleist TruFeel and Tour Soft have relatively similar spin rates. However, we found the Tour Soft to spin slightly less across all golf clubs.

This is also a part of the reason why the Tour Soft has longer distance. 

Price 

Compared to Titleist’s top golf balls as well as other major brands like TaylorMade and Callaway, these golf balls are pretty affordable. The TruFeel golf balls are among Titleist’s most affordable at around $25 per dozen. The Tour Softs are slightly more expensive at about $30 per dozen. 

Titleist Tour Soft Benefits and Cons

The biggest benefit of the Titleist Tour Soft golf balls is the soft and overall great feel combined with the good distance. Titleist’s goal with this ball was to create a super soft feel without losing distance, which they definitely pulled off by reducing the long game spin. 

The drawback of this ball compared to something like the TruFeel is slightly lower short game spin and a slightly firmer feel.

The poorer spin performance is also noticeable compared to a true premium ball like the Pro V1. 

Titleist Tour Soft Compression

The Titleist Tour Soft has a compression rating of about 65. This makes it a low-compression golf ball, which feels soft from both the tee and around the greens. The softness improves confidence and therefore greenside control. 

Titleist Tour Soft Distance

The distance is probably the best part about the Tour Soft. From the tee and from fairway shots, this ball is noticeably longer than the TruFeel. There are longer-hitting options though, such as the Titleist Velocity.

 

Suitable Handicap for the Titleist Tour Soft

The Titleist Tour Soft is a golf ball that most golfers can play. It’s generally a mid-handicap ball, but higher handicaps as well as lower ones can reap the benefits from the softer feel combined with good distance. 

Suitable Swing Speeds for the Titleist Tour Soft 

Because of the pretty low compression, this is a golf ball for average to slower swing speeds. Golfers with very high swing speeds will see a distance loss compared to something like a Pro V1x. 

Titleist TruFeel Benefits and Cons

The biggest benefit of the TruFeel is the feel.

This ball feels incredibly soft around the greens and from the tee, which gives you greater confidence. The greenside spin is also very high for an affordable golf ball.

With a soft low-compression golf ball, there will be some distance losses from the tee. For most golfers, the loss will be a couple of yards compared to a golf ball with a low spin. 

Titleist TruFeel Compression

With a compression rating of about 65, the Titleist TruFeel golf balls are low-compression. This means that they’re soft and suit slower swing speeds. 

Titleist TruFeel Distance

The 2023 Titleist TruFeel has had a distance improvement compared to the previous model. That’s why this ball delivers good distances considering the very soft feel.

However, it’s not as long as the Tour Soft, and definitely not as long as a Titleist Velocity. 

Suitable Handicap for the Titleist TruFeel 

The TruFeel is, just like the Tour Soft, a ball that many golfers can play. But with that said, it’s definitely meant for mid-to-high handicaps and beginners, as those are typically the ones with slower speeds.

Suitable Swing Speeds for the Titleist TruFeel

The TruFeel is made for golfers with average and lower swing speeds. For faster golfers swinging over 95 mph, a ball like the Pro V1 with a higher compression is usually better.
