As the head golf instructor at Tell Me More Golf, and in this article, I will compare Maxfli’s highest-performing golf balls: the Maxfli Tour and Tour X.
These golf balls have their similarities, such as both being premium balls with high compression ratings of 90 and 100 respectively, but they also have some significant differences.
After reading this golf ball review article, you’ll know which one of these is the best golf ball for you.
Maxfli Tour Vs Maxfli Tour X Compared
To kick things off, we’ve compared the Maxfli Tour and Tour X’s design, spin, and price.
Design Compared
The Tour and Tour X from Maxfli are premium golf balls with urethane covers, making them very comfortable to play. The Tour is a three-piece golf ball, while the Tour X features four layers.
They both have 318 dimples placed in an aerodynamic pattern to help with launch and performance.
Spin Compared
The spin rate is one of the key differences between these two golf balls. The Tour is pretty low-spinning off the but high-spinning around the greens. The Tour X has even less spin off the tee, but also less when chipping.
Price Compared
The Maxfli Tour and Tour X are premium golf balls, but they’re at a lower price point than many other top balls from major brands like Titleist, Callaway, and TaylorMade.
These balls cost the same at around $40 per dozen, which can be a little steep for beginners and golfers who often lose their balls, but it’s much better than the price of Pro V balls, for example.

Maxfli Tour Benefits and Cons
The biggest benefits of the Maxfli Tour are the great feel and impressive spin rates when chipping and hitting wedge shots from the fairway into the green, as well as the relatively speaking good price of around $40 per dozen.
The only negatives we found with this ball were the slightly higher spin off the tee and the not-as-great short game spin as the Pro V1. But with that said, the greenside difference is very small.
Maxfli Tour Compression
The Maxfli Tour has a compression rating of about 90, making it a high-compression golf ball with similar feel and performance to Titleist’s Pro V1.
Maxfli Tour Distance
When we tested the Maxfli Tour, it was undoubtedly long-hitting. For average to relatively high swing speeds, the spin rates and launch angles were great.
It is, however, not as long-hitting as the Tour X for higher swing speeds.

Suitable Handicap for the Maxfli Tour
The suitable handicap for the Maxfli Tour is mid-to-low handicappers, at around 15 or under. The high compression means that you need a relatively high swing speed, and the higher spin isn’t great for golfers who struggle with their trajectory.
Suitable Swing Speeds for the Maxfli Tour
When it comes to the suitable swing speed for the Maxfli Tour golf balls, it’s somewhere around 90 mph or more. This is due to the high compression.
Maxfli Tour X Benefits and Cons
What we loved about the Maxfli Tour X was the great putter feel and the low driver spin, as well as the higher ball flight, especially with iron shots.
Like the Tour, the Tour X is also very fairly priced for a premium ball at about $40 per dozen.
The drawback of essentially every single low-spin and long-hitting ball, including the Tour X, is lower spin around the greens, which isn’t great if this is something you struggle with.

Maxfli Tour X Compression
The Maxfli Tour X is also a high-compression golf ball, but it’s slightly firmer as the compression is around 100. This puts it in the same category as Titleist’s Pro V1x.
Maxfli Tour X Distance
For most golfers with relatively high swing speeds, the Maxfli Tour X is longer off the tee than the regular Tour. This is because of the launch, spin, and firmness.
Suitable Handicap for the Maxfli Tour X
The Maxfli Tour X golf balls mainly suit lower handicaps, but fast mid-handicaps can also play them. To give you an example, we’d say that a suitable handicap is 15 or under, given that you’ve got adequate swing speed.

Suitable Swing Speeds for the Maxfli Tour X
The Maxfli Tour X has a high compression rating, and we’d say that you should have a swing speed of over 95 mph to play this golf ball. Anything significantly lower than that will mean non-ideal conditions for maximizing your ball speeds.
Srixon Z Star vs Maxfli Tour
The Srixon Z Star and the Maxfli Tour have many similarities, such as both having compressions of about 90, spinning well around the greens, being a three-piece ball, and featuring a premium cast urethane cover.
The main difference is the price, where the Maxfli costs around $20 less per dozen, which is pretty significant.
Maxfli Tour vs TaylorMade Tour Response
The biggest difference between the Maxfli Tour and TaylorMade Tour Response is the compression. The Maxfli Tour sits at 90, while the Tour Response has a soft feel at around 70. Other than that, the spin rates, design, materials, and price are very similar.

Maxfli Tour X vs TaylorMade Tour Response
The Maxfli Tour X has an even higher compression at 100, making the TaylorMade Tour Response much, much softer. The Maxfli Tour X spins less and will be longer-hitting for fast golfers, while the TaylorMade Tour Response suits beginners and high handicappers better.
Conclusion:
The Maxfli Tour and Tour X are two high-performing tour golf balls sold for a fair price. The Maxfli has a compression rating of 90 and features high greenside spin, while the Tour X has a compression of 100 and features lower spin across all golf clubs.
Both of these golf balls are made for mid-to-low handicaps, and which one suits you the best mainly comes down to preference and clubhead speed. The Tour suits faster-than-average golfers, while the Tour X suits the very fast golfers.
